Winestore.com
Description
In a team of three, I researched how people choose and discover new wines. I then designed a website that offers personalized wine recommendations and also allows users to search for wine according to their mental models.
Approach
Before designing WineStore, we first needed to understand how people choose the wine they drink. We were interested in understanding the purchasing habits of frequent wine drinkers and the way they discover new wines. We used a variety of research methods, including Directed Storytelling, Phone Interviews, Brick and Mortar Observation, and Competitive Analysis, to understand this process.
Following this exploratory phase, we noticed a clear pattern of need and use emerging from our target audience. We constructed a Mood Board, Persona, and two Mental Models to represent and share our findings.
Our design process progressed from sketches, then to wireframes, and ending with hi-fi design specifications. At each of these steps we took into consideration the meaning of our findings in the form of our mood board, persona, and his associated mental models.
Solution
After we were satisfied with the designs, we implemented a demo website using a combination of HTML, CSS, and PHP.
